I am debating whether or not to root my s5. what are the advantages and disadvantages. i heard about my phone bricking, if that happened could i un brick it????

There's very little disadvantages as long as you don't give anything SuperUser access you don't trust.

Doesn't harm otherwise, only really benefits, I'd say go for it.
